There is a program, once called BrandZ for Linux that allows you to run Linux programs on Solaris kernel. However the Linux kernel must be v2.4 you can use CentOS4 or Redhat4(?). There is some experimental support for linux v2.6 kernel, but that is not really supported.
I have installed linux distro CentOS on my OpenSolaris and it works very good. I run Matlab, Acrobat reader, Firefox, etc inside my BrandZ. There are lots of info on BrandZ. The setup is very easy too. To get the most power from it, you should install BrandZ on a ZFS partition.
