Hi all,

I see notices in the Solaris 10 Docs that NIS+ may not be available in
the future. Has a date been set for it's demise?

Also I notice that the NIS+ Documentation is missing from the Solaris
Express Documentation Cluster. Is this a mistake, or is it's removal
intended for Solaris 11 (or whatever it's called?)

I know it never caught on, but I always liked NIS+ alot more than NIS.
It had amny additional useful features, and I'd like to keep using it.
Has the source for it been released to OpenSolaris? so the community can
continue maintaining it if desired?

I know I probably should just switch to LDAP. But I haven't had time to
see what real benefits that provides, and I don't like the idea of
running something as heavy as the Sun Java Directory Server, when I
could use something built in to the OS.
Not to mention LDAP seems at first glance to be pretty complicated, and
my needs right now are very lightweight, closer to NIS, but for me
atleast, NIS+ is no more complicated than NIS because of how long I've
been using it, and I like the extra features it provides.

Also I've read through the NIS, and NIS+ to LDAP migration Docs, and it
seems like the NIS+ to LDAP migration is the more seemless one to make.
So I'm considering setting up my new netwrok with NIS+ but I'd like to
understand how long it will be useful?
