Fact: if NSA wanted backdoors, those would have to be implemented by Sun Microsystems in their not yet open sourced drivers; obviously, a graphics card driver is not a likely candidate. A network driver might be. Crypto hardware on the UltraSPARC T-series is open source, so that's not a likely candidate either. Older, proprietary network drivers might be theoretical candidates, but given that that is a limited set of hardware, it's not a good "backdoor" solution, so those aren't likely candidates either. Fact: Solaris is popular with NSA, as evident from their in-depth treatises on configuring Solaris hosts with IPSec (and preshared keys). I have some of those documents.
