Hi, A couple of years ago I witnessed the building and testing of a Solaris SPARC application which was recompiled on Solaris x86 using an Studio 10 beta release.
The most difficult problem was the extraction of the files required for building (Clearcase was the Source Code Management system and it did not support MVFS on Solaris x86 - Has this changed?). Due to this difficulty with 3rd Party Libraries only a portion of the code was extracted for the Solaris x86 build. The next problem was modifying the Build Flags so that 32 and 64 bit builds (-xarch=amd64 for example). Once changed the Solaris x86 build was easy as entering jam. Performance was superb, it was the quickest version of the software on 32 or 64 bit when compared on the same hardware. So, it you are using a Source Management System which fully supports Solaris x86 then it should be a simple recompile if you are already producing software for different oses.
