Your domain name shouldn't matter. Make it anything you want. > What is server address? Is it my own PC's IP or ISP's IP or some other? Well, this *can* be provided by dhcp, but you can also use your own values. The DNS IP is basically the internet address of an internet phonebook (mapping domain names to IP addresses). If you have bind configured on your system (a dns server), you can use yourself, but it is probably easier to use well known addresses, or the ones provided by your ISP. You should be careful with these values (do not use any random dns server you find in a google search), because rogue DNS servers/poisoning attacks are on the rise. I use: DNS1: 4.2.2.3 (level3 communications) DNS2: 207.75.164.59 (internet2 consortium) These can also be changed later in your /etc/resolv.conf . > What is DNS search list? How to decide what should be there? the search list is a list of domains to search under. An example is: search calpoly.edu When I do an nslookup on www, my system will fail to find the top level domain www, and then will start traversing the search path. www.calpoly.edu will be found, and its ip address will be returned. You can leave the search list blank. > > Thanking You. > > Prashant Poman. > > > This message posted from opensolaris.org > _______________________________________________ > opensolaris-discuss mailing list > [email protected] >
