This is not an answer to your question. I am running nv81 out of the box on a Biostar TF7050. Compiz runs really great on the on-board NVIDIA, it has an HDMI-out, an extra RGB/TV-out (this is why I bought it). I know, I myself was sneezing at Biostar; but it is the only one I could get with onboard TV-out, and no need for any add-on card to run OpenSolaris. 'Green', in quotes. With a BE2300, it runs on close to 50W. But as I said, this is no answer to your question. Even though, with a digital monitor 1680x1050 here, what could be an answer?
