So you don't think people that work with computers on that level are capable of 
deciding that for themselves?

Maybe you ought to. I was answering a direct question that waynel asked me, 
clarifying WHY and HOW, so it's not like this was directed or has anything to 
do with you.

However, I do believe that people need to be made senitive and aware of what it 
means to deliver a high quality product. And high quality product excludes 
hacking and messing with /usr, unless you're a distro maintainer. 

There's a lot of ad-hoc making the rounds these days, just because that was the 
way "it was always done". If we don't make people sensitive to that, the trend 
will continue.

If you'd like to hack your system, by all means. I'd like to have software that 
works for everyone, every time, without having to hack anything. Quality over 
quantity.
