I'm currently in the process of obtaining new hardware for a ZFS NAS built on OpenSolaris. Thus far I have the following list of hardware picked out ->
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane 2.3GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor Transcend 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 SUPERMICRO AOC-SAT2-MV8 64-bit PCI-X133MHz SATA Controller 8 - SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (ZFS RAIDZ) 2 - SAMSUNG HD250HJ 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (SVM RAID1 for OE install) I'm looking for comments on this hardware and am mainly concerned with OpenSolaris compatibility. I'd like to avoid any surprises if at all possible, especially w/the SATA support (I've had problems with this in the past). This list of hardware is very open for manipulation so please feel free to suggest alternatives. I'm looking to get the new system built sometime in the next few weeks (my old Linux NAS is running out of space). Thank you in advance for any assistance that you can provide!
