I still don't see a relation here as he still could use a path that 
works with cdrecord. Cdrecord does not prevent a specific usage.

If "UNC paths" are supported by the OS, cdrecord will work with them.
If this is implemented using some obscure Nero extensions, he would just 
need to use a working PATH that allows to access remote files on his OS.
