Hey all,

I got one of those CDs that allows you to install a bare minimal solaris OS.
think it is 2008.05 Live CD. Once installed I was told you can download some
packages. For example, I want as bare a glassfish/mysql setup as I can install.

But, my group also needs to be working with build 89 or later. I understand
that the Live CD I have is based off of the Build 87. Let's say I install the
xVM stuff. Some bugs might have been fixed form build 87 to build 89, so I want
to make use of the newest xVM build. Maybe some OS bugs were fixed too so that
the xVM for build 89 requires some OS bug fixes that ship with build 89. Does
the update process that comes with the Live CD update the OS files required
such that if there was a Live CD with build 89, that the updated files I get
are essentially the same thing that would come with a build 89 Live CD?

Essentially I just want to make sure that if I use the Live CD to install a
very slimmed down OS, that I can get java, xVM, glassfish, mysql, and acouple
other packages, and then they will get updated when new builds come out
including any dependencies they have on OS files, or am I better off sticking
to build 89, 91, etc as they come out and reinstalling completely?

Thanks.
