Well, I was talking about functionality, not conceptual equivalence. And I said nothing about roles themselves. I was thinking more in the area of auths. Having said that I'm afraid I can't answer your question. I've done some googling and I haven't come across anything that actually tells me what a "sudo role" is. The docs appear to say they are in fact SELinux roles, but I didn't stumble across anything useful in that area either.
