I have a intel Q9450 + P45 mobo + Ati4850. The RTL8111 NIC on the mobo doesnt 
work with Solaris, so I bought an intel Deskpro Adapter EXPIB300BSTL something. 
My e1000g works good. Ive never noticed any problems during normal use.
