In fact, you shouldn't have to necessarily modify the file, the
best practice in this case would be:
. make a copy of your /etc/nsswitch.conf to some safe place
. copy the /etc/nsswitch.dns over current /etc/nsswitch.conf
It is one of the steps for enabling "services" to use DNS.
