I have not heard anything about it, but I am not surprised. Sol10u6 is a major change from update 5. I really encourage everyone to try VBox 1.6.6 in Vista. os0811 "beta" (I am running build 97) runs really well in Vista. For stubborn/"stupid" OpenSolaris hardcores like myself, this is a godsend. The one big deterrent discouraging laptop users to use OpenSolaris is the lack of the suspend-to-ram feature. Vista, OTOH, does this task very competently. Running os0811 under VBox now allows my notebook to go into suspend mode according to exactly the same manner that the Vista host is scheduled to do. Unlike some Linux distros, os0811 wakes up instantly. This is really something. There are tons of other exciting things that I am still exploring. For example, when switching to the full-screen mode, see: http://tinyurl.com/vbox-os0811 you really can't discern any difference from running on the bare metal. I should also point out that, it is not just the appearance ("look") that surprised me, the performance ("feel") is also unbelievably smooth. Once the Solaris kernel developers are allowed to take complete control of the hardware (they do in the virtual world) a lot of good things can happen. Perhaps this is a proof. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
