I re-read my original post and I want to be clear to everyone that I think open solaris is great, very great. I haven't run x86 solaris for a REALLY long time, probably 3-4 years and am completely basing my question on information from non-OpenSolaris IT-types that I happen to run into. I think Sun is a great company to invest in beyond the outcome of this thread. God bless Sun. All the replies have been excellent btw. I will run open solaris for myself soon, I just freed up a computer for it. I am very optimistic about it now too, cheers.
Maybe a better thread would have been, what are the best reasons that OpenSolaris's marketshare will increase? That would probably be better for my intents and purposes anyways. My opinion is that it's marketshare will increase, but for the sake of education, why do others feel that way?
