Mr. Carlson, in case you didn't know, WE are the people and the
community does have the means to influence Executive's decisions.
Maybe you recall how Sun considered killing off Solaris-x86 when
Solaris 9 was indroduced in 2002?
A community website was put into place and many enthusiasts (including
myself) signed an open letter to Sun's board. Also full-page Newspaper
Ad's had been purchased, journalists had been made aware of it, etc.
For more info: http://www.save-solaris.org/board.html

The community does have an influence, and not even the smallest one.
All we must do is UNITE and contact the "right" news channels. Even if
you underestimate it, those flames are precisely what most leaders
fear like nothing else, independently from whether it is in politics
or markets. If you decide that you don't want to participate, why
don't you simply ignore this thread? If you really want to extinguish
this fire, why are you throwing gasoline into it?

Also, why do you say this thread is being written by people "who
cannot know anything worthwhile per definition"? The www is quite
huge, and there is always the chance that somebody finds something,
which others weren't aware of, and which they might even find
interesting.

But I for my part will indeed stop writing to this, until any deal
gets confirmed AND Contra-MEASURES NEED TO BE TAKEN.
