Installed Opensolaris 5.11 on a Dell Vostro 200, then installed VirtualBox. In
zfs, created a LUN, then in VB, created a Windows Server 2003, and used the MS
Iscsi Initiator to attach the LUN to a folder, then shared that folder. This
all works fine most of the time, but I'm having a big problem with it.

If I use a single session to copy files to or from the shared folder, it works
adequately, giving me about 33Mbps throughput on my 100Mbps network. The
problem occurs when I start up a PC app called ThumbsPlus to manage my photos.
It starts a number of threads to parse folders and create thumbnails, and if it
starts one or two threads, everything's fine, but if it starts a third, the LUN
stops responding in the Windows Server, the server itself becomes inaccessible
(it may be bluescreening), and to clear it, I've hard to reboot the OpenSolaris
server and then reboot the Windows server several times before it manages to
cleanly reconnect to the LUN. Yuck.

Although I've had a look at the OpenSolaris and Windows log files, there's
nothing useful in them to point me at which component or components might be
failing, and what I might do about it.

Does any of this look familiar to anybody? Any ideas anybody? I've got to the
point where I'm saving everything off the server and am considering
substituting OpenSolaris with another Windows server, which would be a bitter
disappointment: zfs is a product of genius.
