There's been a lot of speculation in the press about this, and statements from 
some Oracle executives that caused the speculation. It's not like it's some big 
secret, or that customers aren't watching their backs because of it either. 
Much less that mergers usually result in layoffs due to ostensibly duplicated 
organizational function. The only thing odd about that common practice is the 
amusing lengths companies go to after they screw things up to try to cover up 
for it. In fact, the IBM deal had the same open speculation going on too.

I'm not NDA'ed to Oracle, Sun, any of their business units, affiliated 
partners, or even their rivals about any of what they're up to with their 
business. So, I'll feel quite free to speak my mind about this subject since it 
affects me a great deal.

Also, given the dearth of other places to talk about it, a general discussion 
forum isn't an inappropriate place.
