Well I recently setup some spare parts to use a new fileserver and decided to
install and run OpenSolaris on it so that i could take advantage of ZFS/RaidZ2.

I have the machine all assembled and loaded and have a few questions left
before i can roll it out into production.

1) I installed the latest build off the site, yet did not notice a x64 build...
Was just curiouse if there is a 64bit build available.

2)I have the machine setup with a 7 drive Raidz2 pool called "tank1" that will
be used for storage. I have also decided to use CIFS for the filesharing
aspect of things as this machine will eventually be integrated into an AD and
CIFS seems to be the best offering.

Now the biggest question that I have is about the permissions on the CIFS share
I dont have much experiance with the Solaris/Unix permission types and havent
been able to get the information that i need from google or the zfs/acl docs on
the site over the past two days. SO hopefully someone here can help me out.

I would like to setup a few shared folders with diffrent permissions and have
those same permissions passed to all the files stored in those folders. Sofar
what I have managed to glean is that permissions are set on a
Owner/Group/Everyone level. I havent been able to find out how to do what i
need, I will outline my plan here;

Tank1>folder1
         >folder2

now lets say there are 3 users, 1,2,3.

User1 needs to have full access to everything.
User2 needs to have read access to everything.
User3 needs to have read access to only folder1, NO access to folder2
(possiable to not even see it over network shares?)

I havent been able to figure out how to assign per user permissions on folder,
only groups.... And as far as i can tell i cant do what i want with groups....
 (though im probobly wrong.)

3) My last question is whats the best way to remote (i'm looking for something
like Remote Desktop) into my OpenSolaris box from a windows/linux machine?
Right now im using VPN through the gnome daemon though I would like something
that does not require the user to be logged in locally on the server.

Hope this all makes sence as its 5AM and im fryed...

Thanks.
