Hi, I have been looking at the release notes for Solaris 10 10/09 and came across the following point
x86: NVidia SATA Controllers Do Not Support ATAPI Devices (6595488) The driver for the NVidia SATA controller MCP55 and CK804 chipsets included in the Solaris 10 5/09 release does not support ATAPI CD/DVD devices. During system installation or upgrade by using a SATA CD/DVD device, the Solaris installer starts and appears to function but fails with the following error messages: ERROR: The disc you inserted is not a Solaris OS CD/DVD or There were problems loading the media from /cdrom During normal system operation, the SATA CD/DVD drive is not configured and cannot be used. I find that when I try to boot from OpenSolaris my computer reboots as it probes devices, do you think it could be related to this bug? Given that the old NVidia driver for the MCP55 and CK804 chipsets did support SATA DVD/CD drives (see below for units I currently use extracted from Cdrecord-ProDVD-ProBD-Clone 2.01.01a57 ) PIONEER ' 'DVD-RW DVR-212D' '1.24' Removable CD-ROM 'LITE-ON ' 'DVDRW LH-20A1S ' '9L08' Removable CD-ROM What additional functionality has the new driver provided? Can the new driver be fixed so that it does support SATA DVD drives? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
