I'm having a problem here that occurs when I try to ssh into an osol
box. Or ssh to root on the localhost.

Aside from whatever people think about doing that...
Its still a problem I'd like a solution to.

ssh r...@localhost
Received disconnect from 127.0.0.1: 2: Too many
   authentication failures for root

I've been doing that for mnths without incident... so something has
changed.

The sshd_config has this line:

  PermitRootLogin yes

But the comments at that line say it may be ignored by the pam module.
Not sure if that is what is happening, but I don't see anything
explicit in /etc/pam.conf.

And far as I know... I've made no changes in any of the relevant conf
files.

Also the log shows this warning repeatedly (wrapped for mail):

  Oct 15 09:00:39 zfs sshd[2288]: [ID 685508 daemon.info] libgss
  dlopen(/usr/lib/gss/mech_spnego.so.1): ld.so.1: sshd: fatal:
/usr/lib/gss/mech_spnego.so.1: open failed: No such file or
  directory

But that kind of message has been turning up in the log for mnths, and
its only the last few days where the ssh problem shows up.
