Suraj:

Try editing /etc/X11/gdm/custom.conf and add "Enable=true" to the
"[debug]" section. Then restart gdm (by running "svcadm restart gdm" or
by rebooting. Then recreate the problem, and check your syslog
(/var/adm/messages) to see if there are any helpful error messages
that might indicate what the problem might be.

Also, do the Xorg log files (/var/log/Xorg*log) indicate any Xorg
related errors that might help to track down the problem?

I've installed the opensolaris 2009.06 on a SUN Virtualbox 3.0.8
Once the grub loader starts , it does not take me to GUI login screen. It takes me directly to the console login prompt.
I browsed through many forums and tried many of the steps they suggested like :

(1). I added entry to /etc/X11/gdm/custom.conf file
       GdmXserverTimeout=30
-- and rebooted the server and still the login screen did not appear.

(2). Then tried as root :
       #pfexec svcadm restart gdm
--- After running this , there was some change in window for few seconds
and back to console. It happened for few more times.

Will anyone be able to help me out with this ? I need someone's assistance in
troubleshooting the same.

Appreciate it if you could please help me out in this. I want to learn a lot
with this opensolaris , which I do not want to miss it because of this GUI
issue.
