I'd like to continue our conversation. As I wrote earlier, we are going to update our SXCE SunRay Server. However, we have a limit quantity of SunRay Terminals and a lot of legacy hardware, so we think about some variants of diskless clients, something like ltsp.org project. To work with client USB disks we need to have linux server.... Let's consider proc and coins for Linux and OpenSolaris terminal server. Linux diskless clients must be not so heavy, so I suppose to use it...
Linux (CentOS) 1) + Ability for clients to use usb disks with legacy hardware (noi SR terminal) 2) + A lot of desktop software 3) + Free binary updates (with stable system) 4) + SRSS works here 5) - LVM is not comparable with ZFS 6) - Scalability needs testing to compare it with Open Solaris scalability OpenSolaris 1) + ZFS + BE's 2) + Very good scalability and resource control 3) + SRSS works here 4) - No binary updates for stable systems 5) - No ability for clients to use usb disks with legacy hardware (noi SR terminal)? 6) - There are problems with desktop soft... So, my question is the following. Is there any free terminal soft for OpenSolaris which allows diskless clients to use their local usb disks? P.S. I don't like to invent a wheel and make it by a set of dirty not maintained hacks to hal and shell scripts... -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
