What problem are you trying to solve with the updates?
9.0.1 (update 1) in b125 does not crash for me on startup with
a regular user, which I thought was your complaint. Are you
crashes happening with stock b125 or after applying updates
to StarOffice?
Also Nimbus is a Fugly theme is I ever saw one. Hell the Hi-Tech theme from Mac
OS 8.5 Beta was Fugly but tons better and alot more class.
Gnome is just really bland and why would you want bland on something you
interact with on a daily basis. Compiz aside it just can't jazz up a bland GUI
by giving it wobbly windows and transparency.
We had to choose a default theme. Whether the Sun Blueprint them in SXCE
b125
is the best is a matter of preference, but it certainly wasn't purposely
chosen
to herd people to OpenSolaris (which is Nimbus). You are allowed to change
your theme under Preferences->Appearance->Theme. There's even a MacOS-X
theme for people accustomed to that environment.
