Hi, Planning to create a ZFS NAS with RAIDz, the system has 4 SATA ports and all connect to HDD, no DVD-ROM, can boot from USB.
Would like to use all 4 HDD in RAIDz, so the question is where to install OpenSolaris(which cannot be on RAIDz, IIRC)? Ideally, I would like to install onto a USB flash drive, is that possible? What is the capacity for such requirement? I have a 2GB, which apparently not enough for the installer. Second alternative, partition the HDD, so each can have a slice for the RAIDz, then each have a slice which I can have a 2-way mirror. Will this work? All the recommendation seems to be use full disk, I am not sure if use slices is a good idea. Suggestions?
