As all of you may already know, inside an open source community based mostly on people that don't work at Sun, this is a concern. Well...something like this happens to me too. I started several years ago using and supporting SunOS (I still own a SunOS 4.1.2 CD!), and this lack of information doesn't feel good. I was a tech support field engineer who worked for SunService... If we, the OpenSolaris community continue to have only an "I don't know" answer for all of the questions about continuity, licensing model, server or desktop only, frequency of releases, and some other, we'll lose members. This is my fourth (entered in the fifth) year supporting the OpenSolaris community, working outside of Sun (first at Oracle, and since two years in Verizon), what means it's an extra effort done using our nights and weekends, to evangelize and spread the enthusiasm I have for this great OS. We need to keep this enthusiasm to transmit it. This silence policy does not help. > > <snip> > > Thanks to those who've helped me out in the past. > > > > -- > Ken Gunderson <[email protected]> > > _______________________________________________ > opensolaris-discuss mailing list > [email protected] Thanks, and best regards, HeCSa _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
