I have the same upgrading from 130 to either 131 or 132, on at least
2 separate machines.

It's not always at exactly the same point.  Sometimes it happens at
"importing smf manifests 1/8", sometimes at ".. 4/8" and sometimes (as
above) before printing that at all. 

If I boot with -m milestone=none, I can get the sulogin shell and look
around. If I try advancing to milestone single-user, hoping to keep
the shell and look at what's wrong when it sticks, no dice - the shell
stops responding at the same time the rest does.

I notice you have vbox installed also - perhaps I'll try without that.
