Just out of curiosity, since OpenSolaris is indeed an open-source project, if Oracle decides to let it rot on the vine, can the community just take it from Oracle and continue development without the corporate tie-in? After all, open-source projects should be able to persist on their own, despite any negligence from their corporate overlords. What can we do to prevent a massive wipeout? Should we petition Oracle to open source any remaining proprietary bits and then just give it away? What are your thoughts?
