I can feel for you having a bad experience which leads you to believe a given 
system may not be right for you. But you have to give it more than a day to 
work out the kinks I think. What might be useful is to post your frustrations 
as questions, and people may be a little nicer, although I think you got a few 
good answers to your post. 

As far as 'needless idiocy', perhaps you can elaborate? Do you just mean the 
bell and an over sensitive mouse?  

Every OS I have ever used (Mac 7, 8, 9, 10, 6-7 flavors of linux, OpenSolaris, 
various windows, OS/2, FreeBSD, etc.) have all (all I say!) required more than 
a day to work out the kinks. Often the kinks are mine, not the OS...
