I am interested in very clear terms what the pros and cons of a FORK is from a technical point of view?
Support for a successful operating system is very roughly composed of the following Technical development ISV development and partner input IHV development and partner input Marketing, branding,and strategy Support User community/customers Resources/working capital To differentiate with a distinctive business model is difficult but it must be clear to the customer/user.Sun/oracle offers a great advantage over other os's in that it provides access to active customers base.clearly to fork technically it would be weighed up against the other issues.
