Perhaps a new DL385 G7? > However, I will be testing/building OpenSolaris on it > first. Then RHEL 5.5 > and then Solaris and finally, maybe, Win7 just for > fun. Hmm, I do have here DL585 fully loaded (i.e. 8 opteron cores) for NUMA development/testing and I can assure you Solaris 10 is better choice than OpenSolaris on this kind of hardware. The reason is simple: level of support you get from HP. For Solaris 10 everything is working and tested/supported. For OpenSolaris nearly nothing (I mean from HP's own packages). I'm most interested in HPQhealth package which provides for example even such "developer friendly" feature like decreasing fan rotation speed to 54%. i.e. my ears even in room next to the serverroom are more happy with this. To be honest recent OpenSolaris 134 text installer was running fine and been able to install the to drive array, so here it gots its marks in comparison with Solaris10 where you need to supply driver diskette. On the other hand this is happily available from HP's support page...
