In addition, derivative distributions are examples of this, as are
VDI files (VirtualBox images) or VMware images (since VirtualBox can now
handle those too) distributed by those such as

veedee-eyes.com
virtualboximages.com
ovfappliances.com
(which may all be the same folks)

So there are already examples of the sort of thing you may be trying to do,
