OpenSolaris Bible - Chapter 8 - ZFS ====================== Generally, it’s a good idea to upgrade your pools and datasets to the most current version — otherwise, you may find some features to be unavailable; for example, hot spare devices weren’t introduced until pool version 3, but if you need to move a pool or dataset to a system that supports only an older version of ZFS, make sure you don’t upgrade that pool or dataset to a later version.
