Well that might be the case for other OS'es (Windows) but remember at heart 
Solaris/Opensolaris is a server grade OE (Operating Environment) and does not 
have X x infinity monitor vendors id's in its X.0rg database and more than 
likely not many other unix/linux distros either running the same X.Org version. 
 So you you have to tread into the unknown here and potentially break your 
system with editing the xorg.config or just take the advice of trying the 
latest dev image (b134) and see if that cures your ailment (I think it probably 
will). Like I said before your laptop came out almost a year after 2009.06 we 
released. With any other OS you would have had to update your graphics drivers 
if you had the same situation.

Laptops are totally different beasts when it comes to unix/linux compatibility, 
you might just have to tread murky waters to find your best high ground.
