I built an OpenSolaris NAS 2 years ago and want build another one with newer
hardware, in particular, the motherboard and the SATA card. My goal is to have
a minimum of 8 2TB drives. Optimally, I would like to have a motherboard with
at least two PCI slots to put in 8-port SATA cards.
Does anybody have recommendations for hardware? (Strangely enough, the
motherboard I bought on Amazon two years ago {D945GCLF2} is twice the price
today) All of the motherboards on the HCL are either 2-3 years old and not
even sold by Amazon or Newegg or are multi-thousand dollard motherboards (out
of my price range).
