Hi folks, I know this thread has been silent for a long time. But this is the 
only existence, that I could find, that solves the GRUB "GANG block" problem. I 
hope this post email alerts some of you kind souls to this question!

The solution noted in this thread did work for me too...sort of.

The problem is that now, I get the following error upon booting:

cannot unmount '/': directory is not empty
svc:/system/filesystem/local:default: WARNING: /usr/sbin/zfs mount -a failed: 
exit status 1

So the service filesystem/local:default doesn't load, along with dozens of 
dependent services.

I've been banging my head against the wall and scouring page upon page of 
google "results" for this.

Any suggestions? Thanks!
