Slowly, but surely, this is driving me insane, so I hope someone out there can
help and keep me from getting institutionalized ;)

I have an intel (64bit) box with an ATI Radeon 2400XT card, which supports
dual-head, running on OpenSolaris 2009.06 (111b). I've tried all kinds of
xorg.conf variations, but for the life of me I can't get X/gnome to do the
following:
- show one big desktop that spans my two (identical) monitors from left to right
- when I click the "maximize" button on a window, maximize that window only
to the monitor that it's on, not the entire desktop (ie not across 2
monitors).
- don't make dialog windows appear in the center of the desktop (where they're
spilt between my two screens), but in the middle of one screen or the
other

I feel like I've tried almost everything, BigDesktop, Xinerama, XRandR, etc.,
but nothing seems to give me all three things listed above. I've even had a
configuration that made it so that if you crossed the screen border from
monitor a to b, the mouse would get stuck on b, and would be unable to back to
a!

There are lots of forum questions and howto's out there, but I've tried a bunch
unsuccessfully, and they're all for Linux, not OSol.

So now my question: can someone explain to me (or point me to an explanation
of) how I can get my dual-head setup to work correctly? I don't want to have to
choose between not being able to use the maximize button or jailing my cursor
on my right screen ;)

Thanks in advance,
