I got in touch with a Bandrich engineer. He recommends that: "A few hints for you to use C270 on Solaris.
1) Switch from CDROM mode to Modem modem USB VID:PID (1a8d:1000) means that the dongle is in cdrom mode, you can eject it with standard SCSI command. Or you may eject it as a standard CDROM device. If success, you could see the device changed to 1a8d:100x (should be 1007, but configuration may be different). 2) Modem driver After entering the modem mode, you will get three serial ports (a. modem, b. diagnostic, c. at command) The modem port supports PPPD dial-up The diagnostic port is proprietary used. The at command port is used for query information after PPP connection established. You can modify the "user serial" driver on Solaris to add the VID/PID support to these three serial ports. After that, you could dial-up with the modem." I am currently trying to work out how to do this. One thing that is different with Ubuntu and Solaris. With Ubuntu a Bandrich "CD" appears. I then unmount the "CD" then run wvdial. With solaris this is not the case. The cd doesn't get "mounted." If anyone has any more pointer's for me I would be grateful. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
