Hi everyone,

Wow - I seem to be going in circles. The OpenSolaris Caiman installer has no
option to do software RAID 1 (zfs) as far as I can tell, and it seems pretty
bare bones.

So then I thought, no problem - I would use SMC perhaps and the Solaris Volume
Manager to configure RAID 1 after I installed (thinking this offered this), but
OpenSolaris no longer has SMC.

SMC has apparently been replaced by Visual Panels and while they do look great
for Apache and MySQL there is no Volume Management support at all as far as I
can see.

So then I thought maybe I would install the old SMC and just use that - but
this seemed a bit of a dead end too and I am unclear if this is actually even
possible to do in 06.2009.

I did find this guide, but it is not really what I'd like and I am looking for
an easy way for future installs that guys can use:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2789/6n528vrtq?a=view

So . . . how in the heck do you do an install and configure software RAID 1 at
the time of the install, or easily configure it afterward? I am really
surprised it's this difficult so any help would be much appreciated.

(As an aside, while I do like Caiman as far as easy of use, and that you can X
forward it to do the install remotely, it seems exceedingly small in the
options available such as partitioning, package selection, option to not
install a desktop environment, etc. Will Caiman include these functions in the
future?)

Thanks,
Vega Blue
