AFAIK, that has an ATI Rage XL - same chip as the (SPARC) Sun Blade 100/150. I've used very little in the way of x86, but I'd expect it to work, depending on the Xorg driver and monitor even at quite good resolutions, but to be slow with either streaming video (bandwidth) or 3D graphics (since it's not 3D accelerated). Graphics aside, there's an HCL entry http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/data/systems/details/561.html for the PowerEdge 2600, so I'd expect it to work. The only things I'd suppose to be different from a desktop that you probably want someone else to tell you more about: * RAID controller - not sure about required BIOS setup, or whether the hardware RAID works under Solaris (but zfs would probably be more reliable anyway) * if it doesn't have a CD/DVD, then you may have to do a network-based install; again, you'd have to ask someone that's done that on similar hardware before.
