I am trying to set up a fileserver which will serve files for around 9000
users. Each user will get two ZFS file systems one for home directory and
another for web space. This means around 18000 ZFS filesystems.

The production machine is a dual Xeon wtih 8 Gbytes of RAM. My development
system is a uniprocessor P4 with 2 Gbytes of ram. I have managed to get
around 3400 fielsystems created on my test system and then it locks up
generating resource errors from fork.

Does anyone have any experience with this number of ZFS filesystems? if so
will the production system as specced be able to handle this number of ZFS
filesytems?

I'd appreciate any wisdom that anyone has to share.
