I saw the last movie on Virtualbox on MacWorld, and it looked great! Now I wonder how to actually do it with nv93 as host? I rebooted, to xVM, and got the Virtual Machine Manager running, it looked somewhat similar to the one in the video. I set everything, with ubuntu-8.04-alternate-amd64.iso, full virtualisation. This starts, but not fast. Very slow, actually. Displaying the first boot screen (languages) takes close to 20 seconds, and all subsequent screens are not faster (slower?) than the venerable qemu.
1. What do I do wrong w.r.t. the speed? (Dual Athlon, 4 GB) 2. Why does the Virtual Machine Manager show constantly 94% Memory Usage at Dom-0 as only domain? The System Monitor shows 41%, 0% as cache, for example. 3. When I run qemu (qemu -cdrom ...) as normal user, the screen goes black and the machine reboots. Is this a bug? (I guess, yes) 4. In this operating method, bootadm list-menu is invalid: % bootadm list-menu bootadm: unsupported GRUB slice file (/etc/lu/GRUB_slice) exists - ignoring. The location for the active GRUB menu is: /boot/grub/menu.lst bootadm: menu file not found: /boot/grub/menu.lst Why is this the case, what could be wrong?
