If you have problems with accessing the network, run
/usr/X11/bin/scanpci to find out which NIC type it is.
When you know which NIC TYPE it is we can look for a driver.
Also on the SXDE DVD there is a directory "/sddtool "
with the java based device detection utility you can run.
The widescreen problem is probably a resolution problem that Xorg does
not
detect.
you need to install a "ModeLine" in section "monitor" in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.
use /usr/X11/bin/cvt to produce the modeline .
