Hi all,

a rather interesting problem arose when I upgraded from nv_77 to 85:
when I type init 6, the system tells me that it stops 83 services, and stalls
there.
When I press the acpi power button once, shortly, it tells me
_X11TransNAMEDOpenClient: Cannot open /tmp/.X11-pipe/X0 for NAMED connection
_X11TransOpen: transport open failed for local/unix:0

then sits there for another while, and after about 20 minutes, it syncs the
file systems, and no, it doesn't turn out the machine, but at least I can
safely do it manually.
If I force a shutdown manually (by pressing the pw button for a few secs), the
fs on / (ufs) gets dirty, and at next boot an fsck is initiated. So something
is definitely going on...

About the X11 problem: I have found a similar thread in x-win discuss, but I do
have the mentioned packages installed, and no other sign of X malfunction is
visible (no errors in /var/log/Xorg.log, and only these two lines of errors in
/var/dt/Xerrors).

I assume some service is waiting for something to happen, hence the long
time-out.
But what could be it?

A
