Believe your observation is correct.....about SX:DE attempting DHCP configuration by default....To maintain static IP addressing configuration (used previously) it was necessary to perform sys-unconfig on SX:DE to supply hostname, IP address etc.
My case might be a little different with Cable MODEM -> Linksys Router -> Laptop (SX:DE Installation). It could be said the system 'froze'....but actually it was waiting on DHCP services. This message posted from opensolaris.org
