I do not understand if this is really a BIOS issue or a kernel if condition logic on MB BIOS setting of legacy usb mouse support vs ps2 is enabled for the setting and why does it really have to matter vs. the HW restrictions, unless the usb mouse cannot share ps2 mouse port interrupt. Somebody might know or can look up when pre snv_b80, there was a change to detect the BIOS setting for legacy USB mouse is enabled or not, that seems to turn off the ps/2 mouse port when enabled in the MB BIOS settings to make it more strict for the kernel to observe which mouse port to use.
Also Windows XP pre sp2 BIOS lagacy usb mouse support did not matter, vs XP sp2 install cd also has the same issue, as well as believe Vista does too. and newer versions of Linux might as well. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
