Could be considered off topic, if so sorry!
I thought it would be useful to see what changes between versions, I thought 
this would be very simple, just a shell script to report the output of binary 
and --version, -V or -v whatever floats its boat.
Generally the GNU versions use --version but not sure about the Sun versions.
Question how can I find the version of tar in /usr/bin as the man page doesn't 
seem to tell me.
Tried
strings /usr/bin/tar | grep -i ver
But nothing of note came out!
