I think this might possibly be a bug with build 118, have you tried using the 
"beadm" command to roll back to an older stable build like 111? Check and see 
if you can install it in build 111 or if you can boot into the 2009.06 or 
2008.11 live CD and install it in the live CD. That way we can isolate whether 
it's a problem with the new, bleeding edge unstable build or if it's a problem 
with how you're installing it.
