extended dos / logical partition can't be used for a zfs (and as
such, for OS installation), only of the primary partitions. So, without
repartitioning the drive (or getting a new one) you're out of luck.

There's a wonderful rule of thumb which has helped me a lot: never
ever do anything that can screw up a system without a backup. You REALLY
need a plan what to do when that partitioning will go wrong --
crossing the fingers and hoping for success will help only so many
times.

Even just another hard drive, where the important documents and photos
are ocassionally copied (now would be a good time) would help immensely.


To answer your question what to do: backup the data, remove the
extended partition, and repartition the free space to have primary
partitions now, instead of logical ones.
