It sounds like your machine is not running the OpenSolaris distro
(OpenSolaris 2008.05, 2008.11 or 2009.06), but another distro based
on the OpenSolaris source code, but using a different packaging
system, such as Belenix, Nexenta, or Solaris Express Community Edition.
( "cat /etc/release" may tell you which it is - I'm not sure if all of
the above modify that or not though.)
